The LKE LZ1 engined Lenzokart FX1 EVO triumphs in the 2nd round of the KZ2 CIK-FIA European Championship
A memorable weekend at Le Mans, in France, for the second round of the CIK-FIA European Championship in the KZ2 class and the third round of the OKJ class: the Novalux team, flag bearers of the Lenzokart, Luxorkart and LKE brands, succeeded in winning a very important race thanks to Paolo Ippolito in the KZ2 class. A result which once again demonstrates the maturity of the Lenzokart group, capable of designing and building both winning chassis and winning engines.
MICHELE LENZO: “It all went well from the start, both the drivers and the material. We immediately adapted to the circuit thanks to tweaks that brought about continuous improvements, which in turn led us to victory and the excellent performance of Iacovacci, which confirmed the worth of the material. It was a very good weekend for us”.
KZ2 CLASS
From the very beginning of the race, it was clear that the variable weather would influence the entire weekend. In qualifying on Friday, with the racing line of the track starting to dry, the team bet on using slick tyres. The decision proved correct and resulted in a great fifth place in the group for Paolo Ippolito and a sixth time in the group for Francesco Iacovacci. The results in the 4 qualifying heatswere excellent, with Ippolitomanaging to always finish in the first three positions and Iacovacci always among the top 5. After the last heats in the dry on Sunday morning, the
sum of the penalties gave pole position toIppolitoin the final and tenth place toIacovacci. The final took place on a dry track. Ippolito didn’t get off to a good start, so Paolo was first forced to work his way through the skirmishes with his opponents and then begin an incredible comeback against a rival who had stormed into the lead.On the very last lap, also thanks to a technical fault to the race leader’s vehicle at that precise moment, Ippolitotook back first place and went on to win. Very good performance for the Luxorkart driver, Francesco Iacovacci. He was able to make a fantastic recovery, from 10th to 6th position. Absolutely a brilliant result.
OKJ CLASS
In the OKJ class, Francesco Pizzi managed to continually improve over the weekend on his first time on the French track. The Italian experienced some difficulties during qualifying, in the rain,
managing fifteenth place in the group. However, his comebacks in the qualifying heats were great andPizzi also posted the fastest time, which remained the “event record” until the final. Unfortunately, however, contact in the last qualifying round forced him into last place. The result stopped him from competing in the final.
